10/17/06: Site construction is continuing once again. A warm welcome to all our new members! Be sure to prepare a rough idea by next week's meeting. This should include a working title, character(s), and a general plot.

Also, our Xanga site is up and running. Up next is our Myspace and mailing list!

10/16/06: FINALLY! This years first meeting will be this Wednesday (18th) after school in Mr. Nish's room.

- "Sinfest" is a truly revoulutionary webomic by Tatsuya Ishida. The guy has been updating this strip for 6 years now, and his wit just doesn't quit. "Sinfest" is blunt and crude and always speaks its mind. What's not to love?

- This comic is for all those people sick of the Grimm's version of things. Andrea mixes a hodgepodge of fairytales into "one coherent story" that is irresistible. Her artwork is beautiful, and her characters interesting and unique. This is one parody that you shouldn't miss.

Gaming:

- A free forums-based site originally revolving around RPG, and anime/manga, Gaia Online is now proud to welcome any one who wants in. Chat, play games, join guilds, and quest for items to dress your avatar. Look for Gaia usernames under Member Bios!

Interested in joining the CBC? The Hatboro-Horsham High School's Comic Book Club meets every Wednesday after school to update ourselves on each other's progress, plan releases, socialize, and, ocassionally, have a pizza party.

No artistic ability? That's all right! CBC is only looking for dedication and a drive to complete what you start. Bring your comic book ideas, and we could even match you up with an artist.

Our teacher supervisor is Ms. Walboch, and we generally congregate in the science wing, in room A105. Just come sit in on one of our meetings; we'd be glad to have you.

Mission Statement:

The goal of the Hatboro-Horsham Comic Book Club is to bring together people who have an active interest in comics, cartooning, drawing, manga, or even writing. We aim to bring attention to the art of story-telling through the medium of comics. We will do this by meeting regularly, producing graphic novels, and then distributing them throughout the school so that more people can be informed about this modern artform.

How does the CBC work?

Well, we gather and have a fun afternoon. Arrive before 3:00 PM to room A105 with an open mind --you'll be in for many surprises in this club. In the beginning of the school year, we get organized and get to know each other. What story do we want to tell? What impact do we want to make? You can work solo, or with a group.

Who are we?

Some of us are writers, some are artists, and some are editors/proofreaders/betas/and good friends.

What will you need to do?

Come up with a general plot, characters, a title, and how many pages you think you can pull off each month.

Deadlines are set for one month after the prep work is completed. Each week we track progress to make sure everyone (or at least most of us) are on track. At the end of the month, the leader gathers all the chapters of each comic (title pages included) and gets it sent to be photocopied. When we have all our issues, we release our publications to the school store, the library, and to the study halls.

After a sucessfull month, we plan small parties to celebrate.

But it's not as difficult or confusing as it may sound. Everyone becomes quite good friends. We have rather insane antics, we carry on, we procrastinate, we make snide remarks about Super Dave, and we sometimes hold on-the-spot "Who-Can-Shake-Their-Moneymaker-the-Best" contests.

Additional Notes:
Important things to know about our members and their views:

We dislike homophobics, first and foremost. Some of us more than others. We do not gay-bash; we do not pretend to be better than GLBT peers. If your religion endorses hate, then keep it out of the room and to yourself. Most of us are fully capable of whipping you in a good debate.
We are open-minded --plain and simple. Some part of us has never lost its imagination and wonder. We like to consider things seperately from other matters. Each idea is unique. However, we may not be liberal, we may not be conservative, and we may not be overly concerned with politics at all.
We respect diversity. Nay, we embrace it. We are interested in different cultures and different ways. A good half of us are already knee-deep in Asian culture, especially.

Comic Book Club was started by David Yoon in 2004 due to his passion of drawing manga, Japanese comics. He always wanted to create a club for it and make a magazine much like Shonen Jump, a weekly magazine in Japan containing several titles of manga, and hoped that it could be widely distrubuted throughout the school like the hatchat. He finally approached Mr.Coleman,an art teacher, with this idea and became the sponser for the club. The club started out small with a few members and it was rather difficult to hold meetings and have the comics ready for distrubution on time. But the following year, things began to move smoother as more members joined and David Yoon managed to find a more efficent way to do things. The club continues to grow every year with more members and fans. As of 2006, was the founder and president's, David Yoon, last run. He is now relieved of this duty and has left his position to Hannah Silcox, the current leader of Comic Book Club.

Posting Guidelines

For all members:

Consult page authors before making changes to their posts. Spelling and grammatical errors are exempt. As are design issues (i.e. lines, spacing, bold/italics/underline irregularities.) And group leaders too. (Just wreck all my hard work, why don't you?!)
In the Directory: First type in the title of your comic where it belongs in alphabetical order. Create a sub-page in a "Photo Gallery" style. Go back and link the title to the newly created sub-page.
In the Gallery: Edit the main post to have your name bolded and underlined, followed be a colon. Two spaces underneath, type the titles of your work, and ratings. Artistic nudity allowed but please mark it "NC-17." Generally, keep work under PG-13. Create a blank sub-page. In the main post, place your image/fiction. Go back and link each title to its sub-page. OR: Don't create the sup-page if your artwork is already hosted on another site, like Image Shack, Photobucket, or Xanga. Simply link the title to the image URL and save us a bunch of space. <3
Under Links: Place your link under the correct section. Personal sites under Affiliates. Make sure to type a little ditty about where the link will take you and what is there. If you like, sign your name after the description so we know who's posting what. Banners are A-okay.
If you are Super Dave: Under "History" write a little paragraph on how CBC came into being. Please?
Under Updates: Follow the "mm/dd/yy: Event" form while remembering to put the most recent developments on the TOP.

And as for your Member Bios? Have at. Just make sure you don't post anything that will get the entire CBC in trouble. ;)
